We now have a new 15ml glass jar for Eye Butter that is physically smaller on the outside and contains the same amount of product inside. Our older plastic acrylic jar gives way to a new glass jar manufactured for us in Germany by legendary crystal glass manufacturer Stolzle.
Like many companies, when we started, our choice in packaging containers was limited. We searched for a lead-free glass container for the last three years and finally found one that is smaller on the outside and holds the same amount of product on the inside. More important, it is glass which permits us to use steam to sterilize the container before filling. Add that it is 100% recyclable and you have our new Eye Butter 15 ml jar.
The way we are able to make a smaller purse size container that still holds the 15ml of Eye Butter is a fairly simple engineering task for glass, but not so easy for plastic. Most plastic containers are really tubs with a small cup inside a larger molded clear plastic frame. The industry partially does this to make the package look bigger, but it is mainly because plastic is lighter and you need a larger footprint to make it stable to use. Glass is heavier! In fact, the new glass container weighs the same as the older plastic container, but is half the exterior size. This new size is smaller and fits in purses, pockets and satchels easier.
There are some other simple benefits to the new glass Eye Butter container.
